Meet Ida Wye
Ida Wye is an expert gardener specializing in landscape design and restoration.
Ida graduated from U Mass Amherst with a B.S. in Plant and Soil Sciences before working for the U.S.D.A. and teaching Horticulture. After studying Landscape Design at Radcliffe, she began working independently. She later studied Urban Forestry and Wetland Science, and most recently, Wine Studies. Plants and soils remain her vital interests.
Over the years, Ida traveled overseas and studied numerous significant landscapes and Botanical Gardens. In 2015, she left the U.S. and traveled to the U.K. where she developed a greater understanding and appreciation for British landscapes. Before returning to the U.S., she trekked the Wales Coast Path and met lots of sheep and great people along the trail.
"The British style is definitely my primary inspiration, but I absolutely surrender to the architect’s vision and the environmental constraints of the project. That is what makes each unique and sustaining."
Now home Stateside, Ida has a renewed sense of being, love for the earth and it's ever-lasting beauty. You can see this love reflected in her impeccable designs.
“Ida is intelligent, well educated, worldly and enduringly quirky. She is one of a kind. She has an effervescent personality, a good sense of humor, easily blends into a gathering of diverse individuals, and is never at a loss for words. In summation, our thirty plus years of professional and personal relationship with Ida has exceeded our expectations. Further, Ida was “green” before it became “politically correct. “
